Shibori is a Japanese resist technique, resulting in somewhat unpredictable and surprising results. In this class you will learn the basic tying, binding, wrapping, folding and stitching techniques which produce these effects. Transform recycled paper into unique individual pieces that can be used as art work, personal letters to friends, or included in craft projects. Taught by local artist Armi Maddison, you will learn to create paper pulp and work with our equipment to produce between 6-10 pieces of your own to take home. Add small found objects from our selection (or bring in your own) to explore new possibilities with color, texture and composition. No experience is necessary (prepare to get wet!) as you will be guided through the simple techniques and shown how to create a setup for paper making at home afterwards.
