Work with recycled paper bags, to create a scrapbook album that will make a lasting impression. Instructor Samantha Squalls will lead your through this clever book design and show you how to make a fabulous Mother’s Day gift from start to finish. using 5 coordinating fat quarters we’ll create a hip handbag filled with lots of pockets and plenty of room for your essentials. Learn how to line a bag, work with interfacing , add interior and exterior pockets and work with magnetic closures. This bag can be adapted big or small and is a great gift for yourself or a friend!

LEVEL: BEGINNER

In this two part class you will learn how to create your own beautiful, resin coated collage pendant necklace. In part 1, you’ll experiment with mixed media supplies like; paint, rubber stamps, vintage images and ephemera to create a background collage for your pendant.

In part 2, design your necklace, learn to work with jeweler’s resin and turn your collage centerpiece into a finished pendant necklace. Instructor Tia Tuenge is a local artist and designer who will guide you through it all!

Learn the most common embroidery stitches and practice your new skills with the Sublime Stitching pattern of your choice! We will cover the basic embroidery tools, how to read stitch diagrams, follow patterns and learn the basic stitches such as; straight, stem, backstitch, running stitch, satin stitch and chain stitch.

Learn to sew with local author and pattern designer Christine Haynes. We’ll learn straight stitching, zigzag stitching, all the parts of the sewing machine and other key sewing equipment. While learning our skills, we’ll make a market tote, perfect for your library books, knitting, or whatever else you need to carry around. A handout of resources and instruction is included.

Just starting out? Take our Intro class and you will be sewing in no time. Wednesday, May 2nd, 7-9pm

In this class you will learn the basics of creating a simple granny square pattern and learn several variations to spice it up. Alongside guest teacher Cheryl Cambras, you will also learn how to finish and attach your granny squares to each other. Bring a couple of similar weight yarns in a variety of colors, a crochet hook in the right size and get ready to go granny!

A mini version of our popular jam class, taught by U.C.C owner Angharad Caceres. This one will get you comfortable with basic canning you can continue at home year round. Make your choice of strawberry jam or grape jelly and learn canning safety, recipe tips and techniques.

Working without a pattern, you’ll learn how to whip up your very own skirt, from raw materials to finished skirt, in 3 hours! Taught by Christine Haynes, this project uses basic straight stitching and zig zag stitching, perfect for seamstresses of all levels.

This workshop will introduce you SAORI weaving with pre-set SAORI looms. The instructor, FUMI, an experienced weaver , will show you that anyone can experience handweaving, regardless of age, experience, and knowledge. the SA is SAORI has the same meaning as the first syllable of the word SAI. SAI is found in ZEN vocabulary and that means each thing has its own individual disgnity. And the ORI means weaving. Each person has a unique and inherent sense and power of creativity and the experience of SAORI weaving can be a unique self-discovery. Each piece of weaving, even with the irregular selvages, loose threads and accidental skips of threads, shows the unique personality and beauty of the person who made it.
