Whenever new roving comes in I just can’t wait to pile into it just like the scene in E.T. when he’s hiding in all them stuffed animals. A shout out to all the sheep for sharing their fur with us to be dyed, sculpted (needle felted of course) and loved. Thank you sheep!

Kids Winter Craft Camp

Thinking back to our Kid’s Camp over summer, I can’t wait for this time around! I’m hoping we’ll see some familiar faces from last time, and new friends too, of course! Even though the week was a sticky vortex of glitter, glue, and googly eyes, I know I speak for all of us at The UCC when I say it was one of our favorite endeavors to date. There are few things cooler than seeing kids genuinely excited about making things. It’s inspiring to have students so eager to learn what we’re teaching, and to see how their imaginations make it their own. The crafts we’ll be doing with the kids this month are some of my personal favorites, and I can’t wait to see the kids creations and learn a thing or two from them in the process. Needle Felting This Thursday

Meet Gizmo

Our newest friend in the studio (Gizmo on left). He’s crafty, a great listener, and is our newest addition to the big orange couch. He’s completely needle felted except for his big felt eyes and feathers. How long did it take? Weeks! Months even. But it was well worth the patient effort. Won’t you say hello?

Wet Felting a Purse

Our newest studio member, Lisa, knit a purse and put it through an intensive cycle in our washing machine to transform it into a beautiful wet felted bag!

We’ve had a lot of great classes wrapping up this week! Here are some photos from our Intro to Needle Felting class last weekend. It was a really fun group of girls – each person made a little mouse and got started on an additional project as well. Can you tell we love this craft?

Gigis Birthday Party

I really love hosting parties in our studio. It is a chance for a group of people to truly make this space their own and celebrate a special event or person while creating something altogether.

Gigi has participated in several classes and events at The U.C.C. Whenever she and her good friend Lola come by, we drop whatever we are doing to find out the latest on the two girls’ creative endeavors. You may be thinking that Gigi is just another 20 something learning to sew and make soap, but Gigi just celebrated her 11th birthday with us last week!

9 of Gigi’s closest friends learned our most addicting craft, needle felting.

Watch out for Gigi, you just might see her on Project Runway…2018!
