Jamie was the first person to get me excited about spinning yarn. It is a relaxing hobby and as organic a process as growing food in your own garden. Jamie spins a lot of yarn. Last week she started plying 8 bobbins of spun yarn together and I just had to grab the camera.
Isn’t it gorgeous?

We have a couple of 2 session spinning classes coming up on Sundays Oct 4th and 11th from 10am-1pm and on Sundays November 8th and 22nd from 10am-1pm, taught by Anna Zinsmeister. You can see pics from last sessions spinning class HERE. We also have a very special weekend workshop in December called Camp Pluckyfluff with out of town special guest Lexi Boeger that kicks off with a free book signing event on Friday December 4th from 6pm-9pm. You can read more about Camp Pluckyfluff HERE.
It was an incredibly hot day today, but we know that this scorching heat won’t last too long. This is our newest display, suggesting that fall leaves will be turning and the seasons shifting in just a few weeks.

Devon made these needle felted hamburger earrings last week!
They almost look good enough to eat – but don’t worry, we wont…

I’ve just returned from a fantastic vacation up the west coast. I stopped by some places I’ve been anxious to visit, one being the Independent Publishing Resource Center in Portland. The IPRC, as it is usually called, is a non profit self-publishing center that teaches all kinds of bookbinding, letterpress classes and much more. My very favorite part of the center is their extensive zine library, (one of the country’s largest in fact!) that has handmade publications on music, food, crafts, rants, raves and more, spanning several years, from all over the world. Read more about this very special place here.
While the time off was much appreciated, I missed some great classes while I was away. Here are photos from the Halter Dress class taught by Christine Haynes. If you haven’t downloaded our latest schedule yet, you can find it here. Congratulations ladies, your dresses look amazing!

Class Cancellation Policy:
REFUND POLICY: We understand plans can change. In the case of cancellation we will refund your money up to one week prior to the class. Within one week to 48 hours before the class begins we will issue you 50% store credit in the case of a guest teacher or 100% store credit in the case of a studio staff teacher. If we have to cancel a class due to low enrollment, we will issue you a full refund. 48 hours or later you can transfer the class to another person but unfortunately there is no refund due to the time it takes to prep materials, to set up classes and arrange for guest teachers.
There have been so many fabulous events, projects and classes this season in the studio that we’ve decided to combine our favorite moments. Cruise through our blogs to read more. There’s plenty of exciting things to come, including our One Year Anniversary in November!!
We hope you’ll bring your favorite projects and inspiration into The U.C.C and share with us what you love to make!
There have been a lot of great projects this summer in the studio! Now is a great time to step out of the heat, bring in your projects and work alongside fellow crafters, drawing inspiration from each other and learning new skills.
Take a look at some of the amazing projects we’ve seen over the past couple of weeks.
Agnes took our Intro to Sewing class last winter and has since moved onto handmade sewn cards. She began giving her cards to friends and family, but has since gotten order requests from coworkers. I love these geometric designs.

Handmade Invitations, embossed and glittery.

The Amy Butler Field Tote made with adorable orange and white polka dots.

We have some great classes coming up, including: Halter Dress this Friday August 7, Resin Jewelry this Saturday August 8 and Intro to Needle Felting on Sunday August 9th. New Schedule coming very soon!
